We're trialing an open play format so come check it out! These sessions are geared toward players who already know how to play without a great deal of guidance. You may be playing at table with 2 or 3 people if players are slow to arrive.

Ready to learn the art of American Mahjong? Spread across two weekends, this course gives you the time and space to absorb the game. Each three-hour session is hands-on at the table, so you're learning by doing rather than just watching. With only four students total, you'll get plenty of individualized attention throughout.
Brigid will guide you through everything you need to get started: the tiles and what they mean, how to build and read a hand, the rhythm of drawing and discarding, how to call tiles, and the basics of the NMJL card. By the end, you'll understand how a full game is played and have the confidence to sit down at a table and hold your own.
Sessions are designed to build on each other, so we ask that you plan to attend both sessions. Come ready to play, ask lots of questions, and have fun.
